Transforms Audience into Choir

The Los Angeles Master Chorale celebrates the 29th Anniversary of its popular Messiah Sing-Along with its first-ever matinee of the popular do-it-yourself version of Handel’s masterpiece on Saturday, December 12, 2009, 2:00 p.m. A second Messiah Sing-Along is slated for Sunday, December 20, 2009, 7:00 p.m., at Walt Disney Concert Hall. Music Director Grant Gershon conducts both performances, which each feature a different team of soloists from the Chorale. The audience itself sings the chorus parts, filling the landmark venue with an exuberant and robust sound.

Soloists for December 12 are Ayana Haviv, soprano; Amy Fogerson, alto; Daniel Chaney, tenor; and Steve Pence, bass.

On December 20, featured soloists include Karen Hogle Brown, soprano; Rose Beattie, alto; Pablo Cora, tenor; and Greg Geiger, bass.

“The Messiah Sing-Along is one of LA’s definitive holiday traditions,” says Gershon. “There is truly nothing like it. It’s become a must-do for any music lover or for anyone who wants to get into the holiday spirit and enjoy Handel’s beautiful music.” Scores are available for sale at the door.
