Trumpets herald the holiday season with two festive works by Baroque music's most prominent composers. Bach's Magnificat was given its debut on Christmas Eve in 1723. Eight years prior, Vivaldi composed his Gloria, which lay undiscovered in a pile of manuscripts until the 20th century when it was found, published and reintroduced to a world once again enchanted with his music. With joyous choruses and dancing rhythms, both works are favorites at Christmastime.
