The Penn Bookstore will welcome magazine writer and editor Lori Thorps at 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 19, to discuss her new book, Kinky Gazpacho: Love, Life and Spain.

Tharps chronicles her experience as an African-American student in Spain trying to fit in with her new Spanish family who lives in a close-knit fishing community and are devoid of any sensitivity towards blacks. Along the way she falls in love with a Spaniard, gets married and uncovers a hidden history of African slavery in the cities of southern Spain, a discovery that brings Tharps a whole new perspective on Spain and its people, including her new family.

This event is FREE and open to the public!
