Oakland Native, Lorenzo Alexander, Continues to Raise the Bar for His Charity Through Programs Targeting Local Youth

Lorenzo Alexander, a young and talented Defensive Tackle for the Washington Redskins, will encourage kids how to “Hold the Line” and be accountable in school and in sports with a youth-based training camp at Berkeley High School, presented by his ACES Foundation. The two-day camp will be free-of-charge for 150-200 kids; grades 6-12. On day one, a full-day clinic will take place, featuring drills along with a punt, pass and kick competition. On day two, campers will participate in a game of flag football while high-school athletes will be given the opportunity to perform for, and receive personal feedback from, Oakland’s very own Thomas Weatherspoon, a well-known NFL trainer and founder of an athletic training company called Training Ground.

Originally undrafted, Lorenzo has worked his way from the practice squad to becoming an important asset and playing multiple positions for the Redskins in 2007. With a new head coach and coaching staff in place, the 2008-09 season will be full of opportunity for Lorenzo. He is equally passionate on the field as he is off the field. And as a U.C. Berkeley alum, Lorenzo sees both fitness and education as a necessary tool for a successful future. The Lorenzo Alexander ACES Foundation supports youth through emphasizing self-Accountability, taking pride in our Community, striving for Educational excellence while promoting a healthy mind and body through Sports.

This fall, Lorenzo will continue his charitable efforts with a ‘Big Play Back-to-School Giveaway’, equipping kids with the necessary supplies to make big plays in the classroom. He is currently seeking sponsors to donate items and backpacks for roughly 500 students (entire student body for a local middle school).
