Lora-Faye’s music seems to be more in a conversation with Greil Marcus’ “Old Weird America” than it does with the Brooklyn indie scene. The lyrics, contemporary in their own right, reassert the eerie politicality and unique poeticism of American folk traditions into modern issues. Her sound has the simultaneous dissonance and familiarity that seems to set one American singer-songwriter apart from the rest. Lora-Faye’s early work with Matthew Larkin in the band “Devolver” informs her solo efforts with a distinct sense of humor and harmony.
