Long Beach Opera: the Three Penny Opera February 18, 2009

This musical, by composer Kurt Weill and writer Bertolt Brecht, tells the story of Macheath, an anti-hero who is disliked by most. He surrounds himself with bawdy low-life, like the Peachums, and would-be lovers like Jenny Diver, Sukey Tawdry and Lucy Brown. However, the Peachum's daughter, Polly, tries to make an honest man of Macheath. One of the songs featured is 'The Ballad of Mack the Knife.'
