Curiosity compelled Wendy Yanagihara to live in Ho Chi Minh City for a year, during which she taught English, learned more than could be crammed into one glib sentence, and attained (slightly) higher levels of peace and patience. After almost three years working at Lonely Planet’s Oakland office, Wendy ditched the designer's desk for a one-way ticket to Vietnam. A year later, she found herself updating that country's chapter of Southeast Asia on a shoestring. She's been writing for Lonely Planet ever since, and is one of the co-authors of Lonely Planet’s Guide to Vietnam. Confounded by and enamoured of Vietnam, she currently contemplates its complex psyche from California while dreaming of doing so over a glass of pastis in Saigon.
Wendy will talk about her trips to Vietnam and favorite places to visit while showing slides from her travels. She will cover the major cities and some off-the-beaten-path gems along with giving a general overview of the country and its regions.
