London is blessed with a wide variety of innovative startups that are pushing the boundaries of technology on the web, in distributed systems, in messaging and also creating new services and business models.

For this geek night we are organising a series of short talks about the changes, challenges and technology behind the current wave of startups in the city.

We will also be trying to match up developers looking to work with startups and entrepreneurs that need some techie assistance. You can either post your interests on this page (or the wiki) or we are aiming to have stickers available on the night.

See the wiki page for the definitive list of speakers and topics. Confirmed speakers are Giles Thomas of Resolver Systems talking about how he started the business and Martin Dittus from Last.fm explaining how Last.fm came to one of the biggest users of distributed processing framework Hadoop.

If you are part of an innovative startup we encourage you to get involved and give a lightning talk about what you are working on. Please leave a comment below or contact us on the night.

Hi

I am looking to get companies involved in student internships. Our students are in their 3rd year of a computer games development course in Ireland and are proficient in C++. I'd like to see your feedback on the possibility of traditional internships where the student works in the company or remotely. Remote work entails the student working on programming projects from Ireland on an unpaid basis. If you think this is a runner please post. If some companies are interested in this I will attend the event and make my pitch.

Just came back to check up and looks like the going list is full now. I'm still interested if there's space.

This event looks like it is going to be very busy. If you can't make it tonight please switch from "Going" and let someone else in.

Thanks
