27792 Ski Hill Loop
Honey Creek, Iowa 51542

Join us for a photo walk in gorgeous western Iowa's Loess Hills. Hitchcock Nature Area is home to several species of birds, wildflowers, and wildlife. There's different trails to walk on plus a tower that looks out over the valley. There is also a boardwalk trail which is wheelchair/stroller accessible. A playground for the kids is there as well.

We'll meet on the deck outside the lodge at 1. If you want to come early bring your lunch and meet at the picnic tables behind the lodge at noon. Bring suncreen and bugspray. Be sure to wear trail appropriate footwear - hiking or tennies.

Wanna learn more about the Loess Hills and see some pics? Join the Loess Hills group on Flickr.

There is an entrance fee of $2 per car or free with $10 annual Pottawattamie County Parks pass.

The park is very easy to find, just 5 miles north of Crescent, IA. It's easy to get to from I-29 or I-680.

From Omaha, if you take I-680 north from Omaha into Iowa and continue straight past the I-29 interchange, it becomes Mormon Bridge Road. That leads straight to a T-intersection. Hang a left on that (Old Lincoln Hwy) and follow the signs. Click on the map link from this event for more details.

I think the appropriate term would be "sweltering".
In spite of the heat, I had a great time. Of course I can say that now that I have cooled off and showered.
