An ongoing series of all ages community skate-park events aimed towards youth and young families, in 2005 / 06 the LOCALe Music for Ya Park events attracted in excess of seven thousand attendees across eight events. LOCALe Music for Ya Park is now a name synonymous with a quality day out.

The next event is set to take place Sunday September 23 @ Kuraby Skate Park (Wally Tate Park, Beenleigh Road, Kuraby). Catering for kids, teens, parents and of course skaters, as is customary for LOCALe events, an incredible span of activities has been lined up, namely:

A huge new addition to the 2007 LOCALe events is the CORE Series BMX and Skate Championships, for which the Kuraby LOCALe will play host to the Grand Final. The first two action packed rounds at Deagon and Albany Creek attracted many of South East Qlds best skateboarders and BMXers, so the finale promises to be huge. The CORE Series competition is designed to cater for all ages and all skill levels, with separate comps for males and females. Everyone is encouraged to enter and have some fun competing against their mates. The competition promises to display some amazing stunts on both Skateboards and BMX Bikes from some of the best young riders and skaters around. A stack of prizes are up for grabs from sponsors: DK Bikes, Failure Bikes, Drive Products, 2020 BMX Magazine and Extreme Skates (please see below for further CORE Series Information including competition classes and entry details).

Qualifying for the Skate Under 12s and Under 16s and the BMX Beginner and Expert take place on Saturday September 22 @ Kuraby Skate Park, with the Pro heats taking place the following day. The top five competitors from each class will be selected to compete in the CORE Series Championship FINAL to be held on Sunday during the main LOCALe @ the Kuraby event.

One of the primary components of LOCALe though is always the music, performing alongside the Skate and BMX activities at the Deagon event will be a host of both Brisbanes finest up and coming and established acts, including Indigenous Intrudaz, Shrewms, Euphony, Famous Last Words & Poetic Murriz.

+ Vulcana Ladies Circus Workshop - try your hand at stilt walking, roller balancing + much more;

+ LOCALe Art Workshops and exhibitions facilitated by Community Draw organizer Jeremy Nuske. Other family orientated activites taking place throughout the day include Stencil Workshops, Jewelry Making, as well as free temporary tattoos throughout the afternoon.

One of the predominant ideas behind the LOCALe events is that 'public spaces' are exactly that - public spaces - and that their use need not be restricted by pre-conceived perceptions of their functionality and demographic. A particular focus of the 'Music For Ya Park' events is to attract young women and families to the skate park environment.
