Learn how to create fertile and luxurious soil for your sustainable vegetable garden! Lewis Ginter horticulturist Shannon Smith discusses garden soil literally from the ground up in these two intensive sessions.

Saturday, November 7, 9 – 11 am The Real Dirt: The Scoop on Soil Life - Learn what soil really is, why organic garden maintenance and soil building methods differ from ‘better living through chemistry,’ and what to look for in soil tests and drainage.

Saturday, November 14, 9 – 11 am Setting the Stage for Growth: Nutrients and Soil Life - Examine tilling versus no-till methods and double digging. Learn how to start and maintain a compost pile successfully.

GES: HL, 2 each. $60 for both / $40 members OR $30 / $20 per session
