Living History Tours September 27, 2009

Tour the Historic House, once the Summer estate of William K. Vanderbilt II, with guides interpreting the roles of his family, friends and employees. Visitors will meet some of the celebrities visiting the estate helping with a fundraiser for a local hospital. Vanderbilt has arranged for a showing of his 1930s round-the-world trip aboard his yacht, ALVA and also a tour of his estate for generous donors to the cause. Bette Davis, Howard Hughes and Pearl Buck are among the celebrities and friends here to help with the event. You may run into any of them while you visit the Mansion. You may also see family members or staff, including the cook in the kitchen furnished with vintage appliances and her domain. The 'Living History Tour' will take visitors to the Gold Coast of Long Island in 1938
