Who's going to win $2,500 in the 3r nation-wide "Livermore's 2011 Talent Competition" held on Saturday, Feb. 26, 7PM at the Bankhead Theater? Will it be an opera singer? Will it be a comedian? Will it be a young pianist who can't reach the pedals? All we know at this point is that there will be two performances that will each take home $2,500. One will be in the 17 and under age category. One will be in the 18 and over category. This night just might be their big break. What you'll see are the hidden talents who have survived the grueling semi-finals that were held on Jan. 29 and are now performing on a professional stage for the first time, giving it their all.

The semi-final were January 29 and the judges included three performance professionals - vocal instructor Sally Dunlop, Rimmi Radayeva from Radayeva Music Studio and film producer Allen Larsen. We have three local performance professionals on the judging panel for these finals - Ronald Graham from Graham Piano Studio, Robert Lappa, Choral Director at Las Positas Community College and Cindy Browne Rosefield, Director of Instrumental Music and the Performing Arts Coordinator at Las Positas. The performances will be under the direction of Deborah McQueen from smARTSunlimited. To usher us through this suspenseful evening will be the witty and entertaining emcee Heather Quarterman from KKIQ's Hometown Mornings.

There will also be an Oscar-winner, the one act that takes the audience by storm and is selected by the audience using in-theater text voting. You get to be the judge for this one.

This program is presented by The Valley Times and The Tri-Valley Herald. All net proceeds go to the community grants and service projects performed by the Rotary Clubs of Livermore. Wente's Vinyards is a major sponsor and the community supporters include Alden Lane Nursery, Big O Tires in Livermore, A Place to Be Seen Events, Travel Bug, Pianos N' Strings Music Learning Center and SmARTSunlimited.
