Rattlemouth and Da Future kickoff ten days of live performances in WRIR 97.3 FM’s Richmond studios beginning Friday, October 29. Over a dozen acts -- covering genres from groove to bluegrass, indie rock to Native American, jazz to punk -- will perform in support of Richmond Independent Radio WRIR’s Fall 2010 fund drive. Media (and listeners) are invited to visit WRIR’s studios at 1621-B West Broad Street to see performances broadcast from the station’s “Live Room.”

Billl Lupoletti, host of Global A Go-Go and one of WRIR's founding DJs, said "In the early days of radio, there was no recorded music to play. Musicians performed their songs in the studio. WRIR captures that excitement with every broadcast. All of our volunteer DJs are real people who like the music they play. Some of our talk programs are also broadcast live from our studios. Now, with the fund drive, a marathon of bands are doing concerts for live, in-studio broadcasts. It is authentic radio with lots of soul."

Rattlemouth, a groove quintet steeped in music from Ethiopia, Mali, Cuba, Lebanon, and elsewhere, will perform in WRIR’s studios between 5 and 7 PM on Friday, October 29 to be part of Global A Go-Go and to help launch WRIR’s fund raising campaign. Tyrannosaurus Awesome will close the live band marathon Saturday, November 6 at 5 PM.
