Corner Olof Palme and Singaphi Streets, New Brighton
Nelson Mandela Bay, Eastern Cape 6200

The 46664 Concert is to be transmitted live from both the external (giant) and internal (big) screens at Red Location Museum.

The 46664 campaign began in 2003 when Nelson Mandela realized that the youth of the world could most appropriately be reached through the people who would most appeal to them. The power of music, sport and celebrity was identified to educate and empower.

Together with Eurythmics, Brian May, Queen and Bono over thirty of the world's top artists subsequently performed at a global awareness concert for HIV AIDS, held in Cape Town in 2003.

The term “46664” refers to Nelson Mandela’s Robben Island prison number: He was prisoner number 466, imprisoned in 1964 – hence “46664”.

This Live Transmission is in preparation for the "NoNameFever-uGawulayo" Exhibition which would be launched at the Museum on 14 December 2007. The latter is a combo-exhibition which stems from the World Culture Museum's "NoNameFever" Exhibition and the Red Location Museum's "uGawulayo" collection.

During the recent Rugby World Cup's Final, thousands of spectators jubilantly cheered the Amaboko-Boko towards victory in front of the Museum's Giant Outdoor screen. The screen is apparently the biggest in the Eastern Cape and the arena can seat 7 000 people. Apart from that, 100's of people watched the event from their motor vehicles (parked safely on Museum grounds, beyond the arena) in true old fashioned "drive-in" style!

The actual 2007 "46664 Concert" is Africa's response to the global HIV AIDS epidemic and will be taking place at the Ellis Park Stadium, Johannesburg.

Entrance for the 46664 live transmission will be free. The Museum restaurant will be open for refreshments and drinks.
