The family gathers at Christmas time. Only this family belongs to King Henry II of England. Invited are his wife, Eleanor of Aquitaine, whom Henry has locked away for some time, their three sons; Richard, Geoffrey and John, newly crowned King Philip of France and of course Aliais, sister to Philip and yes, mistress to Henry. It's just an ordinary family Christmas as family and guests engage in a life and death struggle for love, power, acceptance and position as to whom will inherit Henry's throne and become England's next King.
