'The Coronation of Poppea' is a love story based on the notoriously debauched Roman court of Nero. With beautiful melodies and interesting textures, Poppea is the earliest opera to remain in the standard repertoire. The music by Claudio Monteverdi is over 300 years old, but is just as lively and tantalizing as the day it was written.
