It is not just how you say something that sets you apart as a writer, of course; it is also what you say, what your obsessions are, how you’ve created the world through your vision and art. You have your own brain (surprising, but true). You have your own set of accumulated knowledge and experiences. You have your own lens through which you view experience. We’ll look at examples from literature, seeing if we can identify aspects of an author’s vision, and then we’ll do some exercises that help you see how your vision differs from other writers’. You already have your own vision, even if you don’t know it yet.
