Light and Lighting Conference May 26, 2009

The Conference is organised by CIE-Hungary with the sponsorship of the Lighting Society of Hungary and the University of Pannonia, and will be held under the auspices of the International Commission on Illumination, the CIE.

The Conference will deal with all aspects of light and lighting, with special emphasis on LEDs and Solid State Lighting, covering aspects of vision and health as well as the measurement of these modern devices and their application. The language of the conference will be English.

The Conference will consist of Invited Papers, Short Contributions, Posters and Round-Table Discussions. There should be ample time to discuss the newest achievements obtained in light and lighting, their consequences in photometry and colorimetry, their health aspects, and applications both indoor and outdoor.

As 2009 is the ‘Year of Astronomy’, one of the Invited Papers will deal with the inter-relationship between astronomy and lighting.

A wide selection of social events will provide interest and relaxation for participants: The Get Together Party on the evening before the Conference, an Organ Concert, a bus trip showing illuminated Budapest, and the banquet on a boat on the Danube, showing floodlit Budapest from the river, are included in the very modest Registration Fee.

During the days before the Conference, the CIE administrative meetings will take place in Budapest and after the Conference several CIE Divisions and Technical Committees will hold their meetings at the university.

Main subject areas of the Conference are:

• light source characterisation, including LEDs


• photometry of light sources and systems, including Solid State Lighting


• theory and application of LEDs in lighting and signalling, traffic signs and signals


• new measurement techniques for LEDs and LED products


• health aspects of light with emphasis on LED lighting


• colour aspects of modern light sources


• indoor lighting applications


• outdoor lighting applications
