The Lian Ensemble is winner of the 2004 & 2005 LAWMA awards for Best World Music / Recombinant Artist, and fuses the Persian musical heritage with the contemporary sensibilities of postmodern jazz. They create a unique and innovative mystical synthesis of world music utilizing traditional Persian instruments such as the tar (lute), santur (zither), and tonbak (goblet drum)
