Keep Lexington Beautiful wrote a grant for a 6-bin recycle trailer to be parked on the high school grounds. The high school recycle club will be emptying static bins placed around the school into the trailer. Also during events at the school it will be much easier to recycle items such as plastic bottles and paper. The trailer will be featured at the final home football game of the season. The cheerleaders will lead a cheer with signs, "Give me an R" and spell out RECYCLE. Program inserts will include stats and trends of recycling in Lexington compared with state and national. It will highlight the recent growth in the recycle club and their many recycling effots and successes. Members of the Recycle Club will be introduced. We would like to give each football game attendee a green recycle sticker to reinforce the message. This is a unique program with many partners. KLB helps buy the trailer. The school agrees to hook up the trailer to a pickup (I like to say this is one of those 'only in Nebraska' could this happen events), empty it and return it. The landfill/recycle center bales the material and sells it, returning half the money to the school which reinforces the message of recycling. The City pays the trailer insurance. This will be an event to celebrate the new trailer, use it in a public forum, recognize the student leadership and EDUCATE, EDUCATE, EDUCATE.
