Join us as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the end of communism in the former Soviet Union and the mass emigration of Jews that ensued. A panel discussion with moderator Danny Grossman will pay tribute to the Refuseniks, Russian Jews who who rose above fear and challenged an oppressive regime, and the American activists who supported them. Refuseniks risked everything to live as Jews in a free country. They were treated as traitors, dismissed from their jobs, and sentenced to long terms at hard labor in the Gulag. With the help of grassroots activists in the "Let My People Go" movement, they challenged a totalitarian superpower and gained freedom for one Refusenik at a time.
