Leon Golub: Late Paintings 1995-2011 March 3, 2011

Leon Golub (1922-2004) was best known for his expressionistic and heroically-scaled paintings that explored human violence and the politics of power. Painted on monumental unstretched canvases, the works in this exhibition incorporate many of the formal traits of Golub's earlier work while also showing him expand his practice via the incorporation of text and the fragmentation of the composition into distinct yet ambiguous areas.
