he Left Bank has developed a large following through their passionate, devotional approach toward 20th and 21st century repertoire. Faculty members Evelyn Elsing and David Salness embrace a theme, then tease it out for a unique trip through the recent history of great music.
This program, "Things Grand and Small," includes the following:
Leos Janácek: Selected miniatures from On an overgrown Path for string quartet
Isang Yun: Memory, for 3 voices and percussion (1974) and Ost-West-Miniaturen, for oboe and cello (1994)
Lawrence Moss: String Quartet (2006) (Premiere, written for the Left Bank Quartet)
Bedrich Smetana: String Quartet No. 1 ("From My Life") (1876) (1824-1884)
MEET THE ARTISTS AFTER THE PERFORMANCE AT A SPECIAL RECEPTION IN THE FACULTY/STAFF LOUNGE.
