Join us for a variety of thought-provoking, probing lectures covering a variety of science, technology, natural history, education, local and regional history. All lectures start at 7 p.m. in the Museum's Oak Room. Dr. Saul Thomas Griffith-People typically wish to ascribe innovation and creativity to something "genius," "magic" or "special," as though to imply it is out of everyone's reach save for a few. Innovation and creativity are, in fact, like any occupation, passion or hobby - available to almost anyone, just requiring hard work and commitment. They can be encouraged and enabled with practice and diligence. As with most things, it helps to start as young as possible. At this special Lecture Series presentation, Dr. Saul Griffith will seek to describe the things that can be done at early ages to encourage creativity, and how to practice it and foster it in later life -- to create the innovations that improve the quality of life of individuals and, sometimes, everyone. Examples of thought processes, failures, successes and the rather unglamorous hard work of "creativity" and "innovation" will be given.
