Lecture - Postmodernism and Philosophy of Art by Sundar Sarukkai. This programme is organised by the NCPA's Mohile Parikh Center for the Visual Arts and supported by Hivos. The talk titled, Postmodernism and Philosophy of Art, will discuss some of the challenges that postmodernism poses to traditional and modernist societies and how these are also important to the philosophy of art. Postmodernism's engagement with the idea of subjectivity and critique of truth are also themes which art is fundamentally concerned with. But to understand these creative movements in art, it is necessary to understand the philosophical basis of postmodernism.
