Aldo Moroni, sculptor, will present a speech titled ?Significance? on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 5 p.m. in Carleton College?s Boliou Hall, Room 104. The event is free and open to the public.

Moroni?s multimedia presentation will chronicle his personal journey, revealing stories of love, children, divorce, poverty and illness and the effects of these life events on his art. Moroni also will speak on the roles of museum, academic and arts criticism in supporting today?s artistic communities. Finally, he also will describe the processes involved in his numerous public art projects and ceramic sculpture installations, including his most recent work that recreates the evolution of a community between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.
Moroni currently has several permanent works on display in spaces at General Mills and the Minnesota Department of Transportation. In Minneapolis, his work is part of the permanent collections at The Walker Art Center and The Minneapolis Institute of Art. He has received fellowships or grants from the Bush Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, the McKnight Foundation and the Jerome Foundation, among others. Moroni has been a guest lecturer at the University of Minnesota from 1994 to 2004 and has worked for the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, the Minnesota Art Center and the Minnesota Museum of Art.
