Learning About Cancer and Understanding Treatment February 25, 2013

On Monday, Feb. 25, Banner Thunderbird Medical Center will continue its “I Can Cope” series by presenting a free community lecture titled “Learning About Cancer and Understanding Treatment.” Presenters will be medical oncologist Amol Rakkar, MD, and radiation oncologist Kurt Wharton, MD.

“I Can Cope” is a program developed by the American Cancer Society and presented in partnership with Banner Thunderbird Medical Center to provide education about cancer, treatment and coping skills for people with cancer and those who love and care for them. The knowledge and support gained from the sessions can help reduce the fear and anxiety that often occurs with a new cancer diagnosis. “I Can Cope” fosters understanding and encouragement from health care professionals, people living with cancer and those who have survived it.

This free program is offered from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25 at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Conference Room 3A, located on the third floor of the A Tower of the main hospital. Enter the hospital through the North Entrance.
