The Leaders of the New School was a Long Island, New York-based hiphop crew composed of Uniondale, New York, natives Charlie Brown and Dinco D; North Amityville native Cut Monitor Milo; and Busta Rhymes who was originally from Brooklyn but later moved to Uniondale. The four got their start touring with hip hop group Public Enemy and in fact it was member Chuck D who gave Busta Rhymes and Charlie Brown their names. The group made its first appearance on an Elektra Records compilation titled Rubaiyat: Elektra's 40th Anniversary, with a song called "Mt. Airy Groove". It was the only hip hop group on that album. LONS soon joined up with popular hip hop collective the Native Tongues. In 1991, Busta Rhymes and Charlie Brown made a guest appearance on A Tribe Called Quest's hit single "Scenario," and LONS joined ATCQ on The Arsenio Hall Show to perform the track with that group. Its debut album was also released in 1991, titled A Future Without A Past, which included the hits "Case of the P.T.A.," "Sobb Story" and "The International Zone Coaster." The group was praised for its light-hearted content and old-school call-and-response deliveries. LONS's second and last album was T.I.M.E. released in 1993, which stood for "The Inner Mind's Eye". The album was less acclaimed than the group's debut, but it spawned the hip hop hits "What's Next" and "Classic Material." In 2010, Charlie Brown, Dinco D and Cut Monitor Milo have reformed the group and are curently working on an album with producer DJ Johnny Juice.

Three guys, one girl, Son of Bazerk featuring No Self Control and the BAND! hail from Freeport, Long Island. Bazerk(Tony Allen) Daddy Rawe(Gary Staton) Almighty Jahwell(Jeffrey Height) 1/2pint( Cassandra Jackson) and The BAND!(Travis Eason)'s debut album Bazerk, Bazerk, Bazerk on the S.O.U.L. record label in the early 90's is a hip hop cult classic. They musically fused old school hip hop, R&B, reggae and everything in between. Definitely ahead of their time (and still are), this phenomenal group was produced by the BOMB SQUAD. Heavily influenced by James Brown and his talented roster of artists, Bazerk and his crew even dressed the part wearing the stylings of the 60's and 70's.They have toured the U.S. on major tours with P.E. and have headlined many times in the 90's overseas in Europe. Although their second album was never released, excerpts can be found on Youtube.com. Bazerk and No Self Control continue to live in Strong Island while the BAND relocated to Georgia. Daddy Rawe headlines with his own band called Soul Explosion under the name PEP the Entertainer, Bazerk has continued to work on projects in hip -hop with artists such as childhood friend Flavor Flav. Almighty Jahwell has also been working hard. 1/2pint has been teaching for the past 13 years at Roosevelt High School and also is now the principal of the Alternative program all located in Roosevelt( Home of Public Enemy). The group has reunited and is currently working on some new material with producer DJ Johnny JUICE Rosado .

Before I made records that critics loved to hate or ignore, I walked around with a hi-top fade and a walkman that I never took off, even in school. After a short summer internship at Power Play Studios in Queens (where I watched Large Professor work on albums for Akinyele and Roxanne Shante) in 1992 and listening to the sounds of producers like 45 King, Bomb Squad, DJ Pooh, DJ Muggs, Mr. Mixx and Pete Rock, I was convinced I wanted to make beats...and a career in the unstable world of rap!

My childhood dream of playing bass in a funk band died after the jheri curl went outta style. I got an SP-1200 and started making home demos. 2 years later, in 1994, I met Vance Wright (Slick Rick’s DJ) who had a studio up in New Rochelle, NY. I started interning/ engineering there at age 17. I learned the basics of engineering and brushed up on my beat making techniques...all while running gofer errands to get Greg Nices turkey sandwiches while he worked on Nice-N-Smooths Jewel of the Nile LP. Grand Puba was there working on his 2000 LP as well. I produced my first joint for Preacher Earl (down with Nice-N-Smooth) called "Fool I Got Your Back" that came out in 1995 and got paid $100. Ballin’! My college senior project was called Music For Tu Madre, an album that eventually became my debut release on my upstart Old Maid Entertainment label in 1999. I followed up with A Bottle Of Whup Ass-The EP (2000), Pimps Dont Pay Taxes (2001), $ick Of Bein Rich (2003) and A Job Ain’t Nuthin' But Work (2004). I also released the Gimme Dat Beat Fool! Remix Project, Experienced!!! (a Hendrix tribute) and a few other limited edition concept based side projects over years. 2006 saw the release of The Bo$$ Hog Barbarian$...Every Hog Has Its Day (an album with longtime collaborator Celph Titled) and To Love A Hooker: The Motion Picture Soundtrack (an instrumental soundtrack to a movie I conceived that doesn't really exist). I no longer MC or record albums, but my alter-ego, Chief Chinchilla, gets the urge sometimes. I produced his debut album, Live @ The Liqua Sto, in 2008. A hilarious collection of minute long malt liquor commercials, Live @ The Liqua Sto is my most recent project and was inspired by the cult classic St. Ides Malt Liquor commercials of the early 1990's. That was my most recent and final project, as I’ve since semi-retired as an artist from the music business. I only come out on Old Timers Day with my socks pulled up high and the old man mid-range jumpshot.
