Laura Vecchione/Junkyard Saints November 23, 2008

I've seen Laura five times and she's the real (soul/country/gospel/Americana) singing deal! This is a CD release show with her band for second recording GIRL IN THE BAND. Her songs "Fly Home Flag Boy," "Magnolia," and "Jane" were featured on TNT's "Saving Grace" starring Holly Hunter. Picks to hit: "Fly Home Flag Boy" and "Indian Red." As a friend of New Orleans, Laura will be donating proceeds of downloads of those two songs to Sweet Home New Orleans, organization that works to preserve musical and artistic heritage of the city in the wake of Katrina.

After Laura comes the high-energy R&B, swing, Latin, and zydeco party music of the Junkyard Saints, a world-class band that just happens to be local to D.C. area. Recent Wammie winners for Artist of the Year and Best Roots Rock Group, with keyboards, guitar, bass, drums, and awesome sax/trumpet/trombone lineup, these gents will burn it up.
