Launch Party for Burning Book: A Visual History of Burning Man August 16, 2007

Please come celebrate the launch of Burning Book: A Visual History of Burning Man by journalist and recent NYC-to-Portland transplant Jessica Bruder.

The book is a narrative non-fiction, photo-illustrated, sunburned and somewhat delirious account of the annual migration to Black Rock City, weaving together scores of interviews -- from desert virgins to Cacophony Society veterans; from La Contessa's sailors to the Gerlach fuel guy; from the Flaming Lotus Girls to Larry Harvey, and many more -- to tell the tale. It's also brimming with images from more than 30 photographers and dozens of festival artifacts.

The party will include a fire-spinning performance by Pyrophilia, turntable wizardry by Michaelo and DJ Rhizome, and nifty projections of things going snap, crackle, and pop in the desert.
