About Booker T. Washington Center
The Booker T. Washington Center has been serving the Erie community for the past 85 years. Its mission is to improve the conditions for work, play, study, health and living in the Erie community and to work with other agencies whose goals and objectives are consistent with those of the organization. The Center offers a number of programs and services such as tutoring, Kid’s Café, women’s groups, job training, tax preparation assistance, and drug and alcohol education programs.

About Community Education
Adagio Health’s Community Education Program provides prevention education throughout western Pennsylvania on numerous health-related topics in school and community settings. A focus of these efforts is the Center for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention (CAPP), a comprehensive program to reduce teen pregnancy and STD/HIV transmission among teens. Peer Education is the cornerstone of CAPP’s efforts. Peer Educators are specially trained young adults who educate youth about a variety of health topics in schools and community settings. CAPP also provides professional training, resource materials for parents and teens, and specializes in curriculum development and public policy.

About Teen Connections & Family Connections
Adagio Health’s Teen Connections is a no-cost pocket-sized directory that identifies a host of resources for teens dealing with issues from health care to dating to legal matters. Each chapter provides phone numbers of local resources as well as websites to visit for more information. Since it was first published in Allegheny County in 1990, more than 500,000 copies have been distributed and editions for other counties, including Erie, have been created. Adagio Health has believes that parents should be the primary sexuality educators for their children and it is never too early to begin age-appropriate discussions about sexuality with children. In 1993, we developed Family Connections a series of age-appropriate guidebooks that help parents discuss issues including pregnancy prevention and healthy behaviors.
