HEALTHY SMILES OF SPARTANBURG TO HOST ITS 3RD ANNUAL
LAUGH FOR A CHILD EVENT ON FEBRUARY 20, 2009

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (January 19, 2009) -- Healthy Smiles of Spartanburg announces the third annual Laugh for a Child event scheduled for February 20, 2009 at the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium.

The event is a night of comic relief with Al Ernst and the E-Nation. A VIP Party will start at 6:00 p.m. in the lobby of the Auditorium followed by a performance of Al Ernst at 7:30 p.m. in the Auditorium Arena.

An Atlanta native, Al Ernst views comedy as a balance of art and war. “To look at life in way that is funny and makes a statement of our time is really an art…a connection to the people; one that makes them want to listen and laugh – that most times becomes a war.”

“Dealing with the children’s oral health crisis in our community can be discouraging at times. When you know tooth decay is the number one childhood disease and there are over 10,000 children in need in our county you can get very frustrated knowing how simple the solutions are: Oral health education for both parents and children and early preventative checkups. Our Annual event, Laugh for a Child allows Healthy Smiles to share our mission in a positive, happy way”, said executive director, Cindy Roddey.

Ernst has spent the last eleven years as an opening act everywhere from a gas station to a headline actor to Carnival Cruise Lines. From local cable access TV in Dallas, Georgia to Professional Wrestling announcer, to host of his own show, “A View from the Cheap Seats.”

His TV credits include all major networks and cable from CNN, ESPN, A&E, Comedy Central and HBO. Bring art and war together – along with the hilarity of everyday life, and you get Al Ernst and the E-Nation.

VIP tickets are $75 per person and include heavy hors d'oeuvre and drinks. General admission tickets are $35. There is a special rate for General Admission tickets of $50 per couple until Friday, February 13, 2009.

Healthy Smiles first began serving children in a “free clinic” setting in March 2007, on the campus of Spartanburg Community College.
