DNA’s LateNite series is a triannual event that gives a voice toartists working within the mediums of performance art, burlesque and experimental theater. Presented in a late evening, the theater’s wilder-than-average transformation is contemporary cabaret at its finest. This year’s second installment features DNA LateNite veteran, Victoria Libertore, in her famed Liza Minnelli persona.

Artist’s Description: Victoria Libertore is invited back for the fourth year in a row to curate and host as her incomparable faux Liza Minnelli. Prepare to laugh so hard that your face hurts. This evening brings you the stars of NYC’s variety and downtown artists with backgrounds in theater, performance art, music, comedy, musical theater, clowning and dance! Provocative entertainment at its best!

Victoria Libertore is an actress, writer, curator, emcee and teacher. She has performed her original work throughout New York City in venues such as BAX/Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Carolines on Broadway, Dance New Amsterdam, Dixon Place, Joyce Soho and PS122 as well as in Boston, Washington, D.C., Montreal, Philadelphia, Provincetown and Toronto. She is the author of six solo shows including GIRL MEAT and My Journey of Decay. Libertore teaches performance workshops incorporating her original, archetypal energy technique. Libertore is passionate about encouraging other artists to create their own work and has curated dozens of local and a few international artists with backgrounds in performance, variety arts, music, comedy and dance. She has emceed throughout New York City in clubs, at events, on the boardwalk, in parks and at private parties as her incomparable faux Liza Minnelli where she utilizes her improvisational skills to make “people laugh so hard that their faces hurt.” She was a Humana Festival finalist for her short play “Monster and Lola.” Libertore was a 2008 - 2010 Brooklyn Arts Exchange Theater Artist in Residence and she has a BFA in theatre from Otterbein University. She is a member on the board of New Dance Alliance. She has written a psychological thriller screenplay with Ryan Kipp. Libertore will be collaborating with Leigh Fondakowski (”The Laramie Project”) who will direct her newest piece, Dreams of Incest in Bali. www.howlingvic.com
