“Lastplak” is a Dutch linguistic gag, a contamination of the old fashioned word “lastpak” (an annoying person; a “pain in the ass”) and the word ” plak ” (from: “plakken”: to stick, paste). Their name suggests an annoying sticker, an irritating person who puts up stickers, or a disturbing message spread with the sticker as medium.

The Lastplak started in 2000 as a one man project that, through the years, grew to the current roster of ten artists with different roots in graffiti, design and street art. They all operate individually and as a collective on murals, stencils, posters, stickers, paintings, etc. Each participating artist has his own specific characters, styles, inspirations and themes which that are all put together in the melting pot where everybody interacts with each other’s work, usually without a sketches or intensive planning.

As the Collective started painting more on canvas, there have been several indoor exhibitions throughout Rotterdam and other Dutch cities, and they will unveil their all new work to Found Gallery in November.
