Lamar Video Race and Festival Preview Event February 11, 2011

The Lamar University film program is set to host a 48-hour video race in conjunction with the Boomtown Film and Music Festival. Open to the general public, teams will have two days to write, shoot and edit short films based upon specific props and genres assigned to them at the start of the race. The contest will kick off after an hour-long BoomFest preview screening at 7 PM on Friday, Feb. 11 at the Dishman Art Museum. Both the festival preview event and the race itself are free to the public.

“We’re hoping to get racers this year from high school as well as college students and professionals.” said O’Brien Stanley, film professor at Lamar University.

All films made during the 48-hour video race will screen at the 2011 Boomtown Film and Music Festival on Feb. 25-26, and a winner will be announced during the BoomFest awards ceremony.
