Described by The Washington Post as America’s “Mozart of modern dance”, Mark Morris has changed the way audiences see dance forever. The world-renowned choreographer returns to the UK to present his brilliant and majestic L’Allegro, il Penseroso ed il Moderato.

When it premiered in 1988, it was instantly heralded as a landmark work. The musical landscape is Handel’s pastoral ode, set to the poetry of John Milton, whilst the sets are inspired by William Blake’s later watercolours illustrating Milton’s text.

Boasting twenty-four dancers, English National Opera’s Orchestra and Chorus under conductor Jane Glover, and an outstanding quartet of soloists including Mark Padmore and Elizabeth Watts, this is “one of the very greatest dances of the late 20th century” (Boston Herald).
