Labor Day Swing Dance Doubleheader September 1, 2007

Free swing dance lessons will be offered from 7:00 – 7:30 pm, courtesy of Danzon School of Dance. Learn all the classic swing dances like the famous Jitterbug and Charleston.

Dance lessons will be followed by a concert from 7:30 – 9:30 pm by Joe Bourne & Big Band Express. Bourne and his band will cover the greatest songs from Lou Rawls, Duke Ellington, Stevie Wonder, Nat King Cole, Van Morrison and more – an evening of sweet tunes from all of the Rat Pack favorites.

To make it even more fun, dress for the occasion by sporting a zoot suit, flared-out dress, flowing pin curls and any other vintage pieces you can come by. Participants wearing vintage clothing from the 1930-1950’s era will be entered in a contest for a $1,000 prize package courtesy of JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa. This includes a two night stay at the resort with breakfast and one pair of tickets to the upcoming New Year’s Eve gala.

Tickets are still available: $10 for students, $15 for Tucson Jazz Society members and $20 for non-members.
