Labayen Dance/SF, one of the Bay Area's eclectic, exciting and innovative dance companies, celebrates 18th year with the US premiere of Enrico Labayen's critically acclaimed "Rites of Spring", originally set on Manila-based Labayen Dance/Manila in 2000 and commemorates the 100th anniversary of Igor Stravinsky's groundbreaking modernist work composed in 1913.

Labayen's version explores a young man's coming of age and sexual awakening and initiation to the world of maturity with French dance artist, Sandrine Cassini, formerly of Bejart Ballet Lausanne and Paris Opera Ballet in the lead role plus "Tears" a work that examines the experience of the process of dying, death, loss, sadness, love, & joy in collaboration with Bay Area composer/musician Gabriel Goldberg.

Also on the program is Philippine-born choreographer/director Malu Rivera-Peoples, will present "Organics", the work will be performed by the talented dancers of West Lake School of Performing Arts (WSPA). Russian-born Viktor Kabaniaev will premiere "Broken Strings". Sandrine Cassini will premiere "Treize", the work examines and explores energy flows between two bodies, sometime attracting, sometime repelling, set to Frederick Chopin's Prelude # 13. Laura Bernasconi will present "Nourishment" a collaborative work Yannis Adoniou

Labayen's "Awit ng Pag-Ibig" (Tagalog meaning songs of love), sentimental journey from memories of my childhood growing up in a violent and poverty stricken environment of the City of Manila. The work is a commentary on domestic violence and its innocent victims, the children.

Victor Talledos' will present "Desolation" deals with two strangers with the same intention, both gave up on life, Brazilian choreographer Daiane Lopes da Silva will present "Chrysalis", a dance piece that investigates the connection between primitive state of mind and bodily sensations.
