LA SOIRÉE ONE DROP, a benefit event in support of access to safe water around the world, will be held in New York City, on June 29, to coincide with the Premiere Gala of ZarkanaTM, the brand new show by Cirque du Soleil®.
The LA SOIRÉE ONE DROP benefit event will be an opportunity to call on the generosity of New Yorkers and to focus attention on issues linked to access to water for all. Guy Laliberté, Chair of ONE DROP and Founder of Cirque du Soleil, will be attending the event. “ONE DROP reaches out to the entire world to focus attention on the issue of water and to raise funds to implement projects for access to safe water in order to fight poverty,” said Guy Laliberté. “Almost a billion people around the world do not have access to safe water. I will continue reaching out to the entire world to make the dream of water for all a reality, one drop at a time, one step at a time, for future generations.”

The funds raised at the LA SOIRÉE ONE DROP event in New York City will be used to finance projects for access to safe water in several countries, particularly for the ONE DROP El Salvador project, which has been organized in the Morazán department, the poorest and most arid department in the country. This initiative will directly affect more than 12,000 men, women and children and will have an indirect effect on the lives of more than 22,000 people through the social art and popular education part of the project.

ONE DROP—an initiative of Guy Laliberté, Founder of Cirque du Soleil—is a global non-governmental organization (NGO) with its headquarters in Montreal, Canada. Water is essential to life. It all starts with just one drop. Access to safe water gives communities the chance to learn, develop and thrive. That is why ONE DROP works on several fronts to make a real difference. With its unique arts-based approach, ONE DROP helps to ensure sustainable development for communities by implementing educational projects, providing adapted solutions for access to safe water and granting microfinance loans. Creative projects led by ONE DROP worldwide seek to raise the population’s awareness of water-related issues and to encourage the adoption of responsible water management practices.
