La Resistance is the brainchild of Greg Summerlin, who after releasing several solo albums on Superphonic Records formed the new Birmingham, Alabama band with three friends that have played with him over the past several years. The band's debut album, "Philosophy", was released on Superphonic Records in February and has received an enthusiastic response from both fans and press alike. "Philosophy" recalls various musical influences from the last three decades and reflects the band's views on contemporary life in the US today. Greg is joined by Wil Drake on drums, Jake Blount on bass and Erin Tumlin on keys and vocals. Greg's previous three albums received much critical approval and had songs that appeared in numerous TV shows and movies, including network placements on ABC and NBC.

La Resistance's debut album has already been covered in such major blogs and magazines as Magnet, Blurt, My Old Kentucky Blog, Popmatters, Under the Radar, KEXP.org, Allgigs (UK) and many others. It has also spent several weeks in the CMJ charts and even achieved #1 status at stations like KONC in Chicago. "Philosophy" was produced by Greg and has led some in the press to favorably describe the band's music as a modern American version of the Factory Records.

La Resistance will also be releasing a companion EP to their debut album this August that will include their favorite covers from bands like Gang of Four, New Order, Echo and the Bunnymen, Joy Division, and Jesus and the Mary Chain. They will also be announcing tour dates for Fall 2001 in the coming weeks.
