Kuni Mikami learned to play classical piano in Japan, where he was born and raised. In 1975, he travelled to New York to pursue a career in Jazz. Since then, he has played with such acts as the Lionel Hampton band, Dizzy Gillespie, and the Duke Ellington Orchestra. He's also played at the famous Birdland club in New York every Tuesday for the past 8 years.
