Konono No. 1 is a 12-piece African street band from Kinshasa, who will be making their Pittsburgh debut at The Warhol after an extensive European tour and select dates with Chicago-based band, Tortoise. Using homemade ?Congotronics? electro effects, amplified thumb pianos, and makeshift percussion from pots, pans, and car parts, these unique musicians fuse traditional rhythms and homemade trance sounds in a mix that?s earned acclaim from electronica fans and world music connoisseurs.
