Hell hath no fury...

Safety Word Theatre Company proudly presents Kobayashi, re-imagining of Euripides' Medea, set in post Second World War Japan and America.

Kobayashi, a Geisha from Kyoto, follows her lover Jason, back to California in order to start their new life with their unborn child in ‘the Land of the Free'. However, despite Jason's promises of equality Kobayashi finds herself in an alien and unusual land where values and beliefs are radically different from her own. In spite of Kobayashi's attempts to change herself Jason forsakes her for the love of another woman.  Betrayed and isolated Kobayashi calls upon the Kami (Gods) and the spirits of Yomi (land of the dead) to wreak her vengeance.

By combining Eastern and Western theatre techniques SWTC examines the concept of punishment in this life and the next. SWTC breathes new life to this classic Greek tragedy, and promises to keep you gripped from beginning to cataclysmic end.

Suitable for aged 14 plus.  Contains scenes of a sexual nature, and some nudity.
