The Chamber Classics season starts with music by women composers from three centuries - from 19th century Fanny Mendelssohn (Felix's talented composer/pianist/conductor sister, whose 200th birthday we mark) to 21st century Nancy Galbraith who is a much-performed composer of today. Tormenta del Sur invigorates with its fast-paced, dynamic pulse and flashy color. Peggy Stuart-Coolidge's Pioneer Dances evokes Great Plains with its cinematic sound and Copland-like sonorities.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month; this concert salutes the Race for the Cure - Knoxville and underscores the healing power of music.
