*About Spins & Needles*
Created in 2005 and based in Ottawa, Spins & Needles is Canada's first established independent monthly event that mixes hip craft projects with DJs spinning funky beats at various bars, galleries and esoteric spaces across the country. Sites have included the National Gallery of Canada, the Canadian Museum of Civilization, Pop Montreal and the Gladstone Hotel in Toronto. Other spin-off events include the monthly Disco Bingo night, various workshops, sales and swap meets.

Goals of Spins & Needles: to help build and sustain creative communities and to inspire everyone to be active creators of their lives. For more info or to join the mailing list, e-mail spinsandneedlesATgmail.com or check out http://www.spinsandneedles.com/.

*About Streeknit*
Founded in 2006 by Sadie Lewis in Toronto, Streetknit rouses the knitting communities of u(To)pia, hobbyists, s n' bs, society yarn-darlings , needle-clackers of all ages to put needles together and spend some time knitting some warmth into an extra scarf, maybe some toques with affectionate or somber colours, mitts, blankets, socks, even a sweater and see it reach those without home. These can be dropped off at local yarn-knit shops Knit-O-Matic (1378 Bathurst St.), The Naked Sheep (2144 A Queen St. E.), Sew Be It Studio (2156 Yonge St.) and The Knit Cafe (1050 Queen W.).
Streetknit will be distributing to homeless outreach programs all over the city including Windfall Clothing , Ve'ahavta, St. Francis Table, Scott Mission , Parkdale Community Health Centre so far, as well as future friends PARC and Out of the Cold. If you are a homelessness service-provider interested in this project, please contact streetknitATgmail.com .

Every year people in Toronto freeze to death because they have nowhere to come in from
the cold.

At this installment of spins and needles we welcome donations of handknitted sweaters, hats, mittens and socks for StreetKnit ( http://www.streetknit.ca). Yarn and needles (and chopsticks!) will be also be available to get you started.
