Formed in Germany back in 1984, KMFDM is one of the pioneers of industrial alt-metal that inspired groups like Ministry and Nine Inch Nails. They relocated to Chicago in the mid-'80s, then to Seattle in 1999. In addition to their own recordings over the years, the group has been noted for either playing, producing, or remixing tracks or albums by Die Krupps, Front 242, kidneythieves, M People, Peter Murphy, Pig, Schwein, Sister Machine Gun, and Swamp Terrorists, among others.
