Desert Forest Golf Club, named best private golf course by Desert Golfer Magazine, will host the Kiwanis Club of Carefree 35th annual golf tournament on September 21st.

Reservations must be made through the Kiwanis of Carefree. The benefit will support the club whose many programs include a generous college scholarship fund and a popular science fair program for children and young adults.

Limited to only 110 registrants, the $150 entry fee provides participants a 9:00 tee time and golf, cart, range balls, on-course beverages, lunch and a silent auction at the facility known for its challenging terrain and native desert vegetation.

Corporate sponsorship packages are available and most include a foursome of golf. The title sponsor for this year’s tournament is the Heritage at Carefree. “From the players to tee and major sponsors, the community is urged to get involved,” said tournament co-chair Howard Dicke. “It is a great way to gain entry into one of the best private golf courses and give back to the community at the same time.”

Desert Forest Golf Club only hosts one other non-member tournament each year making this “a very special event,” Dicke said.

The chapter is the 7th largest Kiwanis Club in the world and is dedicated to programs that benefit children, including a scholarship program which last year distributed more than $150,000 in college scholarships.

“Now, more than ever, the need is there. We want to provide children with the education and competency levels they will need to become ethical, adult leaders of the future,” said Dicke. “We urge you to get out on the golf course for a fun event.”
