Kirk Whalum is an eight-time Grammy nominee and two-time Stellar Award winner. His latest release, The Gospel According to Jazz III, debuted at #4 on the Billboard 's Jazz Album chart and is currently #2 on Billboard's Contemporary Jazz chart. It also includes an appearance by his brother Kevin Whalum, George Duke and Lalah Hathaway among others.
His sax solo was featured on Whitney Houston's wildly popular single "I Will Always Love You," on the soundtrack for The Bodyguard. In 2008, Whalum released Promises Made, a benefit album for the Millennium Project dedicated to the relief of hunger, disease prevention, and economic development in Africa.
Over the years he has worked with other artists such as Babyface, Yolanda Adams, Take 6, Bebe and Cece Winans, Barbara Streisand, Quincy Jones, Al Green and Luther Vandross just to name a few.
