For more information about SSY Yoga’s Summer Kids Camp, request the 2012 registration form. Why yoga camp? We create an atmosphere of trust and relaxation in a non-competitive environment. We work in small groups in order for campers to develop friendships and bond with others where they are allowed to just be kids. One very unique aspect of Sun Salute Yoga Kids Camp, we can walk to the La Plaza Park or Old Golden Lantern Park and have outdoor time. Nothing is more stimulating for learning than an outdoor adventure. It is a rare chance for kids to spend a week or more playing like the child that they are: A typical day at SSY kids camp includes: • Circle Time & Yoga class • Yoga Pose of the day (e.g. down dog or super hero) • Craft activity • Healthy Snacks and discussion of healthy foods • Yoga Games & songs • Closing Circle, relaxation & Savasana • Work on challenge pose for the week (e.g. king pigeon) • Journaling • Relaxation • Snacks at La Plaza Park (bring your own snacks healthy options only please). • Yoga Games • Yoga Class • Camp Songs What we will learn: • Yoga asanas (poses) • Yoga games • Mindfulness and self-calming techniques • Breathing practices • Fun songs We will create a yoga journal with pictures of campers in each pose that we learn. By the end of the week, campers will have a practice journal to help them remember how to practice yoga at home. We will have a mini graduation ceremony and each child will receive a diploma.
